Leidos is looking to fill a Network Engineer Lead position to support the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC).  The Network Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of major computer network initiatives.

This is a 100% on-site position. All work must be performed at the customer site in Bethesda at the Intelligence Community Campus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Devise solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new computer network equipment and technologies.
  • Develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages.
  • Utilize monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity.
  • Perform these functions across a wide range of network facilities including physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, digital servers, line drivers, telecommunications transport facilities, NCP and related software/hardware, and network management components.
  • Provide support metrics and reporting to leadership.
  • Assist leadership with planning schedules and ensure proper personnel coverage for support activities.
  • Responsible for evaluating resumes for vacancies and serving as a key component during candidate interviews.
  • Manage work assignments for team, review and assign customer incidents, requirements, and tasks within ServiceNow ITSM ticketing platform.
  • Manage work performance for subordinates, provide periodic feedback, and document performance against employee’s goals and corporate guidelines.
  • Review and approve timesheets for assigned subordinates in compliance with corporate standards.
  • Flexibility in work schedule. This person will be expected to have a standard 8 hour workday. However if an outage occurs they may be called to help troubleshoot.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining multi-network transport.
  • Experience configuring and deploying Cisco series LAN/WAN switches, routers, firewalls, optical networks, and Intrusion Prevention/Intrusion Detection devices.
  • Network and troubleshooting experience with network protocols: VoIP, ATM, SONET, MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, QOS, MP-BGP, OSPF, VPLS, GRE and L2/L3 multicast.
  • Experience supervising others
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
  • Ability to mentor and lead a technical team to include functional management of direct reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with other contractors and Government civilians. Able to brief Government leadership.
  • Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP along with an appropriate computing environment (CE) certification)
  • Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification

Education:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Clearance:

  • Due to the nature of the government contracts we support, US Citizenship is required.
  • TS/SCI with Poly required for Position or TS/SCI and willingness to get a poly.

Preferred Qualifications:

Any of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Voice Professional, Brocade Certified Network Engineer (BCNE), Network+, Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

Pay Range:

Pay Range $112,450.00 – $203,275.00
