Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with US BICES-X Operations Team to ensure smooth and reliable operation of multiple DoD networks.
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and team goals, and to identify and resolve program issues.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing computer systems
  • Performs complex network development and design work.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for life cycle replacement of network devices.
  • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented customer requirements.

Operational Management

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems to include developing corrective action, implementing solutions, and documenting problem resolution.
  • Ensure that the network/transport layers of the CAN/LAN/WAN are operating and available to support mission requirements.
  • Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance to team members.
  • Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced Network Engineers
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and related equipment.
  • Monitor overall network health and troubleshoots reported events.
  • Administer network security and maintain network security appliances.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Complete COMSEC operations as required.
  • Travel to the team's focused area of operations to perform remote site installations and resolve network problems affecting remote site connectivity.
  • Be an advocate of the established team ITSM process.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related Network Engineering experience.
  • BA/BS degree in related functional field.
  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Must possess a completed CCNP certification.
  • Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
  • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS and ASA software and hardware features
  • Experience with Cisco firewall and rule sets
  • Ability to configure, define, and maintain router Access Control Lists (ACLs)
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work.
  • Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work independently.

  • The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.
  • Willingness to exhibit extreme ownership of all positional requirements and responsibilities.
  • Network cable fabrication and repair experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • COMSEC experience: knowledge or COMSEC principles, requirements, and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and experience with VoIP/collaboration systems
  • Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, and Microsoft
  • Knowledge and experience with data center networking principles, best practices, and safety requirements
  • Understanding of concepts and experience with network virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge of Automation for Networks
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM system and ITSM concepts
