The Division of Administration (Administration) is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Department of Law & Public Safety. Administration oversees the Department’s operational and administrative units, including those involving
budgeting, fiscal management, grant-making, human resources, information technology, and facilities. In addition, Administration houses a general counsel’s office and an office for departmental ethics. Administration’s employees work closely with the Department’s other divisions to ensure that they have the resources and administrative support they need to carry out their mission.
Under limited supervision of a supervisory official within the Information Technology Section.
This position will provide direct support to the Office of Justice Data in the Office of the Attorney General to compile data collected from the time a defendant enters the State’s criminal justice system, by arrest, charge, or other action, through the final disposition of the defendant’s case then assemble this data, which is scattered across multiple agencies, to produce logical data models and continue to expand and maintain the extract, transform, and load for the eight current databases storing the information.
Responsible for logical data modeling, analysis, design, development, and implementation of Data Modeling, Data Integration, or Data Warehousing solutions using Data Management technologies
Administers technologies related to Data Modeling, Data Integration, and Data Warehousing
Coordinates Data Modeling, Data Integration, and Data Warehousing projects
Works independently on data modeling projects
The position will schedule and attend joint application development sessions with IT professionals responsible for each of the databases to create the interface that will feed the warehouse and transform the data so the relationships amongst the disparate systems can be analyzed and reported to the public.
Continual maintenance of the warehouse interfaces will be required as agencies (Office of Information Technology, the Administrative Office of the Courts, the New Jersey State Police, the Department of Corrections, the Division of Criminal Justice and the State Parole Board) add and refine data fields within their collections that the Office of the Attorney General would then be required to analyze and report to the public.
Does other related duties as required
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or four (4) additional years of relevant experience as indicated below if no BA/BS degree.
Three (3) years of experience in systems analysis and design, data modeling, and/or data warehousing solutions delivery, one (1) year of which shall have been primarily in logical data modeling.
*Applicants who possess foreign degrees (degrees earned outside of the U.S.) are required to provide an evaluation with a course-by-course breakdown, approved by the Civil Service Commission, indicating its U.S. equivalency prior to the closing date. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer/Information Technology and two (2) additional years of experience in systems analysis and design, data modeling, and/or data warehousing solutions delivery may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree.
Appointment to this title may be made provisionally, pending the outcome of an open-competitive examination (PAOC). If selected for the position and appointed PAOC, you will be required to apply for the open-competitive examination, when issued by the Civil Service Commission for this title, pass and be reachable on the resulting eligible list to become permanent in the position. Appointees who fail to be reachable on the resulting CSC eligible list are subject to removal.
This position may also require non-traditional work hours, on an as needed basis, including evenings and weekends on short deadlines for certain assignments, with or without advance notice, and may require travel to perform the aforementioned responsibilities.
Minimal travel between LPS offices or vendor locations expected.
