Join us as we embark on the exciting implementation of Epic across our integrated health system. The successful candidate will be a self-starting, highly motivated team player functioning within a team that is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting the Epic Grand Central application. The Systems Specialist/Principal Trainer supports all aspects of end user training in their respective Epic module. The Systems Specialist/Principal Trainer is responsible for developing and maintaining course curriculum, training materials, and conducting classroom training for Hackensack Meridian Health staff The position entails working effectively with a variety of areas including administration, access services, patient accounting, clinicians, management, and vendor consultants in the development and the implementation of the Grand Central / Prelude application. The candidate must understand the objectives for implementing a registration system and have the ability to recognize opportunities for process redesign in order to maximize the benefits of the implementation. The Systems Specialist/Principal Trainer is expected to offer a mix of skills from operational, technical, and leadership backgrounds and is the backbone of an effective training/operational readiness program. This role is required to have Epic certification and to work with end-users to deliver a product that meets strategic, organizational, and departmental goals. The Systems Specialist/Principal Trainer operates in a matrix reporting environment as a direct report to the Revenue Cycle Project Lead and as an indirect report to the Epic Training Manager.


Responsibilities: Master both the respective Epic module and the relevant operational workflows Develop and maintain Epic course curriculum along with all training materials for the respective Epic application. Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of workflows to properly develop training curriculum and related materials. Build, test, and maintain the training environment. Ensure all classroom training and related training materials adhere to current Hackensack Meridian Health policies and procedures. Conduct training for all new and existing staff utilizing Epic in preparation for system activation. Design and develop end-user competency exams Teach additional credentialed trainers and super users who will assist with classroom training for end users. This will include monitoring the trainers adherence to course curriculum, knowledge of applicable workflow, and overall Epic system knowledge. Lead training efforts stemming from software upgrades and updates. Coordinate closely with system analysts in order to develop proper training in consideration of all end users roles to ensure effective training in advance of software updates and new version releases. Provide hands on support to system end users with learned application knowledge and documents project issues. Participate in testing and workflow validation of all new systems and modifications before implementation into the production environment. Maintain customer service orientation and responsiveness Obtain certified proficiency within each assigned Epic application module Communicate effectively with project leadership, team members, and customers Assist application analysts in gathering end user requirements by working directly with clinicians and their staff.


Qualifications: Interested individuals must have strong intellectual capability, maturity and judgment, as demonstrated by their academic performance, relevant professional experience, and other demonstrated achievements. Successful candidates will meet the following qualifications: Minimum 3+ years of experience in a health care environment with strong knowledge of registration / billing workflows. Previous experience with adult education and instructional design preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to write and edit curriculum for all roles that require training and create job aids and other training materials. Must possess solid interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and attend numerous meetings Must be willing to spend significant time leading classroom training and must be able to present the material clearly and with confidence. Self-motivated with the ability to learn new concepts and job requirements quickly as well as handle frequent change. Willingness to travel overnight for educational classes and to work non-standard and/or extended hours Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science required.
