This role provides in-house Power BI expertise within the Customer Data Squad to provide critical support for our data operations, working together with the Data Engineering team
The Power BI Developer will ensure seamless operation of centrally managed, organization-level dashboards and reports. Additionally, the role provides technical support and consultancy to citizen developers and collaborates with the Data Engineering team to identify, investigate and resolve data quality issues. By enabling reliable, high-quality reporting and maintaining the integrity of visualized data, this role directly supports bp’s strategic goal of running efficient, data-driven operations.
In this role You will:

Translate business needs into actionable insights through data analysis and business intelligence.

Design and build multi-dimensional data models that turn raw data into meaningful stories.
-
Create engaging, interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
-
Document algorithms, parameters, and models to ensure clarity and consistency.
-
Maintain and enhance the Data Catalogue for optimal data governance.
-
Analyze and optimize Power BI scripts for performance and accuracy.
-
Write and run DAX queries to support advanced data exploration.
-
Contribute to the development of Data Warehouse and Datalake solutions.

Recommend and implement strategic improvements to BI systems.

Troubleshoot and enhance existing Power BI reports and applications.
What You will need to be successful:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
-
3–4 years of experience in data-centric roles, working with databases and Power BI.
-
Solid grasp of BI and data analytics concepts, processes, and best practices.
-
Familiarity with data integration, warehousing, and data presentation strategies.
-
Proven skills in Data Visualization and Data Modelling.

Ability to build secure, rich Power BI dashboards and write advanced DAX expressions.

Experience with Power Query and M language for backend development.

Understanding of Power BI Online Service (Workspace), including Row-Level Security and Gateway management.

Strong communication skills to bridge Business and Technology teams, supporting Business Analysts with technical expertise.

A creative, open-minded approach to problem-solving and innovation.

A growth mindset and willingness to learn, with potential to evolve into a Junior Data Engineer role.

Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Desirable Criteria:
-
Knowledge and experience with other BI tools and BI systems

Experience with Cloud Data Platforms (e.g. AWS Redshift or Databricks)

Basic ability to use SQL for querying and filtering for better results and performance

Basic knowledge of a scripting and programming language such as Python or PySpark
