PowerBuilder Developer

Position Description
CGI is seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer with a strong background in IT project work and demonstrated experience in coding and implementing solutions based on PowerBuilder. The ideal candidate will bring strong project delivery and development experience and be able to thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced work environment.

Working as a PowerBuilder Developer, you will research, design, develop, and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. PowerBuilder Developers will also be involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. This person will work with the business to evaluate current system challenges and architect, design, develop and test solutions to meet requirements. The challenges predominately require the implementation of application architecture, business logic and DevOps approaches to accomplish improvements in system performance, security compliance, and operational efficiency.

This position can be located at any CGI office in the U.S, preferred location is Richmond, Virginia.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The PowerBuilder Developer will perform multi-disciplinary technical tasks that require object-oriented design skills and system design skills and will work closely with the development team to ensure that the solutions meet the business and non-functional requirements.

The PowerBuilder Developer will:
– Identify and document current solution challenges along with the system requirements necessary to remedy those challenges
– Architect, design, and develop new solutions to meet system requirements
– Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
– Independently test the application and develop solutions that enable a positive end-user experience
– Support test activities by separate test groups resolving issues and defects
– Correct errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
– Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
– Trouble shoot issues with the implementation of the solution
– Assist with the deployment of the developed work
– Assist in the final implementation and go-live activities planning
– Work closely with the development team and team lead on all development activities, providing timely status while working as part of a project team, communicating progress, technical issues and their resolution solutions

– Software Application Development
– DevOps approaches and techniques
– PowerBuilder 2012 and higher
– Microsoft Azure DevOps
– Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
– Desired Qualifications:
– Public Sector Experience
– Experience with application architecture design
– Security Experience – understanding of single sign-on, algorithms
– Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or mathematics
– Professional consulting experience

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $77,200 – $213,800.
