Your primary responsibility as a Principal Product Manager – Technical (PMT) is to help accelerate the product development and business growth of a new AWS database initiative. A principal PMT achieves this growth by shaping and leading product strategy – turning insights and customer feedback into plans that accelerate product delivery. This includes taking ownership of roadmap prioritization, and contributing to feature development by acting as the voice of the customer throughout the software development lifecycle. You will collaborate directly with software engineering teams, and interact with the senior management team within the AWS databases organization.
A successful candidate will demonstrate proven product management skills with experience delivering features for large scale database systems. The candidate will be comfortable managing competing priorities and be able to bring clarity and order to ambiguous scenarios. The candidate will demonstrate subject matter expertise for database technology and is familiar with related storage and server hardware. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills are important, as the candidate will frequently work with leadership and colleagues that cross organizational boundaries.

– A bachelor’s degree
– 10+ years’ experience contributing to the development or management of enterprise data management systems.
– 5+ years of experience writing SQL queries or related procedural programming expertise.
– Demonstrated track record of defining and launching products/services as a result of a software development lifecycle.
– Ability to communicate complex technical issues simply and convincingly to a wide range of audiences
– A master’s degree in business or related technical fields
– 15+ years of software product management experience in enterprise database, storage, or cloud infrastructure domains
– Experience building and managing business models, defining customer and market segmentation, and setting product pricing
– Experience constructing and managing sales demand-generation programs
– Experience turning ambiguous ideas into products and delivering novel cloud services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $281,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
