JOB SUMMARY

 

This role requires working under the direction of the corporate IT Manager to deploy, manage, and support software solutions for Heilind Electronics and all it’s global employees and affiliates.  This is a twelve (12) month contract or temporary position, with the potential to extend.

 

We’re seeking a skilled Pro5/BBj Developer to support and modernize legacy systems for a one-year contract engagement. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Pro5/BBj or related languages and experience with object-oriented programming. This role requires technical acumen, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams on mission-critical applications.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance legacy BBj applications.
  • Assist in migrating BBj code to modern platforms or languages as needed.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Create technical documentation and contribute to knowledge transfer.
  • Provide input on architecture and system design where applicable.
  • Support integration of front-end interfaces using modern web technologies.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in Pro5, BBj preferred
  • Experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience working in collaborative, agile, or iterative development environments
  • Must be a US Citizen due to US Naval Contractual Agreements.
  • Must be able to report to Wilmington, MA and work onsite during scheduled days Tuesday – Thursday (remote Mon & Fri)
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Exposure to database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle)
  • Understanding of enterprise application architecture
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems or migrating to web-based platforms
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration practices

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (paperwork, typing, using mouse/keyboard). The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
