BURNCO is currently recruiting a Quality Assurance Technician. This is a full-time position out of Fort McMurray, reporting directly to the Area Manager – Ready Mix.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- On-site testing of concrete.
- Completion of a CSA approved concrete testing course after hire.
- Communicating with clients, onsite staff, third party testing companies, and/or operations personnel.
- Troubleshooting and making recommendations to maintain high-quality ready-mix product.
- Observation and documentation of placement, logistical, and curing conditions that will impact product performance.
- Observe, document, and evaluate third-party testing procedures and quality of testing and address/correct testing non-conformities.
- Entering and assessing concrete test results from in-house and third-party lab testing.
- Preparation and testing of cylinders for compressive strength.
- Sampling and testing of ready-mix raw materials.
- Perform batch analysis by testing samples to ensure that all batches meet specifications. Recommend corrective action if required.
- Completion of quality investigations (may include in-situ testing, inspection of concrete surfaces, collection, and analysis of data).
- Assist with the creation of new concrete products or manage existing mix designs.
- Knowledge of concrete mix design and related considerations, including additives and fit for purpose design considerations.
- Preparation and execution of batch trials.
- Regular commute to customers’ sites.
- A valid Alberta Driver’s License with at least 3 years of driving experience is required.
- Saturday work may be required based on customers’ demand.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation in materials or civil engineering is preferred.
- Previous concrete testing experience.
- Knowledge of CSA 23.2-14 field testing procedures.
- CCIL/ACI certification for concrete testing is considered an asset.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
- Be highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
