QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN I
SUMMARY:
The Quality Technician I plays a critical role in ensuring that food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This entry-level position supports the quality assurance team by conducting inspections, tests, and documentation throughout the production process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine quality control inspections on raw materials, in-process items, and finished goods
- Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical tests to ensure compliance with specifications
- Monitor production processes for adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate logs of quality data
- Report deviations and non-conformances to the QA Supervisor or Manager
- Assist in preparing Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and other regulatory documentation
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections
- Maintain sanitation, monitor records and participate in swabbing and visual inspections
- Escalates quality issues to team lead or Supervisor
- Participate in training sessions on food safety and quality protocols
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Associate’s degree in food science, Biology, Chemistry, or a higher degree is a plus.
- Minimum 1 year in a food manufacturing or quality control environment a plus
- Familiarity with Hazard Analysis, Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Basic proficiency in laboratory equipment and data analysis, and Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Required to maneuver plant and warehouse workspaces which involve:
- Frequently standing, walking, sitting, talking, or hearing, work around loud machinery and moving parts
- Continually utilize hand and finger dexterity, may be exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, exposed to outside weather conditions, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds safely
