Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Database Analyst.

Primary responsibility for extracting data and designing complex relational databases for quality improvement (QI) and research programs within the department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Implements user interfaces for data capture. Provides reporting capabilities. Manages data security. Performs data quality control and validation of data consistency and integrity. Coordinates data management efforts from multiple clinical sites to seamlessly integrate and structure data from disparate clinical, echo, radiographic, laboratory, and/or research silos into a comprehensive database. Works collaboratively with program leaders, surgeons, nurses, administrators, and staff to support QI and research initiatives. Performs statistical data analysis and assist with grants, publications and presentations. Reports directly to the Department Chairman, the Director of the Aortic Surgery Program, and the Department Administrator.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Work collaboratively with Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery project teams and the NYU Langone Institute for Artificial Intelligence in problem solving and efficient strategies for data collection, database architecture, and statistical analyses.
    • Work closely with the Department Chairman and Aortic Program Director to organize and prioritize data management needs and statistical analyses to support QI and research projects.
    • Design, implement, and develop linkages for relational databases across multiple settings (e.g. EPIC,  Healthix, New York State and Society for Thoracic Surgeons Registries, CMS claims data, National Death Index, etc) and across multiple sites (e.g. NYU Langone Health System hospitals and external collaborating institutions).
    • Design and develop user interfaces for project specific questionnaires, data entry, subject tracking, and medical follow-up.
    • Coordinate data management processes across clinical sites and harmonize data.
    • Design and develop procedures for data quality control and validate integrity and consistency of data.
    • Design reporting procedures and produce reports to Project Leaders on regular basis.
    • Provide database training/tutorial sessions for all researchers and staff involved in data entry.
    • Run basic (e.g. EXCEL) and advanced (e.g SAS, SPSS) statistical data analysis for QI and research projects with knowledge of descriptive statistics, observational research, mulit-center clinical trials, outcomes research, survival analyses, propensity scoring/matching, competing risk, etc.
    • Responsible for ongoing database administration and trouble shooting for all datasets
    • Attend all project team meetings on a regular basis

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Knowledge of electronic data capture (EDC) design and programming.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience as a professional database manager with statistical skills to support and coordinate QI projects and research studies
Team player with excellent diplomatic skills
Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent documentation as well as writing skills
Proficient in EXCEL, SAS, SPSS, R, HTML, PHP, Media WIKI, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, SQL, Pearl, Visual Basic
Proficient in working with Operating Systems/Environments (EPIC, Windows, Unix/Linux, Mac), Microsoft Office, Matlab, Mathematica, Photoshop, MySQL interfaces, specifically Navicat, and REDCap, Redmine systems, Powerpoint

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 – $123,188.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
