Senior Mainframe Developer – Hybrid

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic IT team. This role is critical as it will involve working on complex mainframe applications that are key to our operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mainframe technologies, including ISPF, IMS DC/DB, DB2, COBOL, and will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and maintenance of our critical business applications. As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will be responsible for analyzing business requirements, developing innovative solutions, and ensuring that systems are efficient and reliable.

In this role, you will

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using IBM Mainframe skills such as COBOL, DB2, JCL, SAS utilities
• Engagement with other partners like FTP to co-ordinate Mailbox/NAS storage setup and file transmissions
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to deliver software solutions on time.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers and team members.
• Verify code to ensure compliance with established norms.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mainframe application development using IBM Mainframe skills such as COBOL, DB2, JCL, SAS utilities
• Experience in Source control using Endevor
• Strong proficiency in Mainframe tools: Mainframe Utilities, REXX, ISPF, IMS, Micro Focus Platform, Micro Focus.
• Experience in support project. Experience in dealing with complex production issues. Must have excellent analytical skill and ability to work independently.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client OR Cognizant office in Toronto, ON.
