The Opportunity:

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will be part of a global cross-functional team focusing on providing goods and services to a wide variety of governments, in order to establish and maintain influenza pandemic preparedness.  The SPM will be part of a sub-team in charge of managing interactions specifically with the US Government (USG).  He/she will report to a Director of Pandemic Contracts North America and will also work closely with the Senior Director and Senior Project Manager of Pandemic Contracts North America (PCNA).

In this role, the SPM will support activities related to lifecycle management of a portfolio of USG contracts, with a combined value of 100’s of millions of dollars.  Such activities would include, but not be limited to, identification of new USG funding opportunities in support of research, development and commercial objectives in influenza, coronavirus and beyond, including proposal development, negotiations, coordinating efforts with cross-functional teams to ensure that all deliverables are on-time for active awards, ad-hoc project-related issues and contract close-out.  The SPM will be assigned one or more contracts to manage on a day-to-day basis requiring direct interaction with USG stakeholders, with oversight provided by the D-PCNA and SD-PCNA.

The SPM will assist with development of presentations and reports for external audiences and senior management to provide updates on contract-related activities.  The SPM will also support activities related to development and implementation of strategies to support long-term growth of Seqirus’ pandemic business.

The SPM will be offered internal development opportunities (e.g., assigned independent projects and asked to represent the team at internal and external meetings, as well as either internal or external trainings to expand his/her knowledge base regarding government contracting, negotiations, strategy development, etc.)

The role:
Day-to-Day pandemic contracts management:

  • Chair internal meetings or meetings with Government partners (both teleconferences and face-to-face) to ensure efficient and effective outcomes, ensure minutes are distributed in a timely manner and action logs are maintained and tracked.

  • Monitor cross-functional project activities for adherence to milestone timelines, deliverables and budget.

  • Ensure all risks to timelines and budgets are identified and escalated to senior management as necessary.

  • Guide cross-functional team members in decision making and operating as a team.

  • Effectively manage any activities which may not be governed by existing contracts, yet are critical in order to maintain relationship with US Government

  • In collaboration with Finance, ensure timely invoicing for both cost reimbursement and revenue-related activities.

  • Coordinate routine and urgent topic updates on USG-contract related issues for senior management

  • Ensure all contractual compliance obligations are met.

  • Manage ancillary agreements: Preparation/execution of Material Transfer Agreements, Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Data Distribution Agreements, tracking through Enterprise Contracts Management tools.

  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies to maximize effectiveness of contract management (e.g., update processes and SOPs, as needed)

  • Support renegotiation of existing contract terms, as needed.

Support development and implementation of global strategies to ensure long-term revenue growth:

  • Support development and implementation of strategies to secure new markets for pandemic preparedness contracts including, but not limited to influenza and coronavirus preparedness.

  • Support discussions and negotiations with external stakeholders to implement pandemic preparedness strategies.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in life sciences, medical-related sciences or public health preferred; PMP/CFCM certifications preferred.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in project management of US Govt funded awards (life sciences preferred)

  • Experience in pharma, vaccine or biotech industry

  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Adobe Acrobat Professional, SharePoint
