Job Description Everest National Insurance Company, a member of Everest Re Group, Ltd, has an opportunity for a Director level Senior Project Manager within Insurance Operations in the Liberty Corner, NJ office.

The Director, Insurance Operations & Systems will serve as a Senior Project Manager on a large Enterprise Technology Modernization initiative. The modernization program primarily focuses on implementing a new policy administration and underwriting system to meet the growing needs of our business. His / her primary role would be to enable a smooth Business-Technology liaison across multiple workstreams of this program, which leverages Guidewire software suite among other systems.

The director role ensures that the configured software solution meets the stakeholders’ primary business objectives across multiple workstreams. The director role is responsible for collecting and reviewing insurance product definitions, rates and forms requirements in order facilitate configuration and integration, testing and deployment to ensure that the final product meets business objectives. As the business-area project manager, this candidate will be responsible for building and reporting on project timelines, coordinating business deliverables in conjunction with overall program management office (PMO).

The Director, Insurance Operations & Systems will report to Chief Administration Officer, Everest National Insurance Company at Everest Re Group. This position will be based in our offices in mid-town New York and will require frequent travel to Liberty Corner, New Jersey offices.

Responsibilities

Review customer business processes and goals, identify product and workflow requirements and guide the development of business requirements
Guide customers on how to best leverage Guidewire applications and technology to meet customer defined business goals and objectives
Consult with business and technical resources to produce business requirements and functional design documents, as a subject matter expert in Insurance operations
Partner with business teams to understand business objectives and integration requirements for business processes, data flows across new and existing systems
Support estimating the effort required to configure the software
Plan and manage user acceptance testing of customer solutions
Support preparation of overall project plan (with IT plan as a subset) and evaluate it against business objectives
Advise on key trade-offs between scope, schedule, and objectives
Communicate with stakeholders to ensure necessary buy-in

Required Skills

An ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and expertise in the relevant insurance area, as well as experience using technology to meet insurers’ need
Capability to communicate clearly and efficiently as well as influence outcomes
Deep industry knowledge of the P&C insurance industry with primary focus on policy administration and/or underwriting
Consulting & Leadership Skills – Ability to adapt to various work settings and serve in an advisory/leadership role
Ability to handle project management tasks (Scope Control, Budgeting, Estimating, and Resource Management)
Experience with software implementation project(s) in requirements gathering, functional specifications, QA, user acceptance testing, or training
Experience in software package implementation through customization or configuration using agile methodologies
Understanding of a project life cycle methodology
Experience in applying change management concepts on a software implementation project
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to determine the best solution for complex problems
Experience working on enterprise technology implementations leveraging agile and understands agile tools and concept
7-10 years of experience in technology implementations; preferably leading overall solution design
BS or BA degree or relevant work experience

Shows a track record of working effectively in a cross functional teams environment
Ability to deal with issues directly, firmly, and in a timely manner; doesnt allow problems to fester
Ability to negotiate end solutions across different stakeholders
Ability to coach business users on effective adoption of new solutions

Desired Skills

Background as a Systems Analyst or Consultant working with insurance carriers
Prior experience with Guidewire Software products (Policy Center, Underwriting Management)
Experience in definition of test scenarios and design of test cases for a software implementation
Experience in developing training materials (e.g., formal documentation, user guide)
Experience in conducting group training sessions
