L.L.Bean is currently searching for a Senior Software Developer to join our Customer Technology team based in Freeport, Maine. This important role is responsible for designing, developing, configuring, testing, debugging, and documenting computer applications based on technical configurations and specifications. The successful candidate must have advanced proficiency and skill in full stack development.


Works independently and collaboratively with a team.

Implements technical solutions by either configuring software packages or code development.
Designs and creates solutions taking performance into consideration.
Identify and assist with implementing application improvements that will lessen development timelines and/or reduce production support issues.
Conducts walk-throughs and reviews of solutions. Provides options and estimates for solutions.
Responsible for partnering with vendors on the development, configuration and integration of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software packages and custom code.
Participates in the selection, implementation, configuration and integration of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software packages.
Helps to set and promote coding and web standards across the web developer team and IS organization.
Provide web based design and development subject matter expertise to business partners and IS peers.
Work with the creative team and other members of the project team to develop site concepts, interface designs and architecture of the website.
Identify and assist with implementing application improvements that will lessen development timelines and/or reduce production support issues.
Work with business area customers and vendors to identify business requirements, test strategies, and test execution.
Develops integration requirements and partners with the integration developer to implement.
Responsible for the development and execution of testing and implementation plans.
Applies formal methodologies when designing and developing / configuring solutions.
Participates in project planning and development or assumes responsibility for a project of limited scope including guidance of others.
Provides options for and estimates of possible solutions.
May be responsible for the completion of a phase of a project or small projects depending on complexity.
Estimates and tracks time required to complete work, for project budgeting and financial tracking.
Stays current on Industry trends and Software roadmaps.
Regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced team members.
Conducts and participates in reviews of solution designs, configurations and code.
Partners with technical and business team members to maintain system documentation, knowledge base and frequently asked questions.
May act as primary liaison to software vendors for managing vendor problem tickets.
Partners with the business on effective end user adoption and use of system / function.
May review training strategy, materials and Standard Operating Procedures.
Partners with technical partners to ensure Service Levels are met.
Continually looks within and beyond their job, anticipating business needs and opportunities.
Responsible for 247 research and resolution of production system problems.
Provides technical expertise for project and baseline support teams
On call – provides day time and after hours on call support.
Adheres to security standards in support of PCI compliance.
Adheres to development standards and provides development standards recommendations.
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.


Strong web-based technical skills and high aptitude for learning new technologies.
Must work well in a team environment and have strong time management skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong business and analytical skills.
Extensive experience with JavaScript (ES6), HTML5, CSS3, SCSS.
Experience with React and Redux.
Experience with Node.js and Server-Side Frameworks (Hapi preferred).
Experience with Webpack and Babel.
Experience with static linting and unit testing frameworks.
Implementing and consuming AJAX/JSON/REST Web Services.
Additional technologies beneficial to the role:
Familiarity with WebSphere Commerce.
Familiarity with progressive enhancement
Experience with responsive web design.
Accessibility and SEO knowledge.
Familiarity with web content management systems
Familiarity with Scrum methodology in an Agile team.
Perl familiarity
Education Level: BA/BS or equivalent
