We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Consultant to join our dynamic team in a hybrid working model that promotes flexibility and work-life balance. As an SQL Server Consultant, you will apply your expertise in database management to provide high-level consulting services that support our clients’ operational needs. Your primary role will involve analyzing and optimizing SQL Server databases, developing custom solutions, and ensuring data integrity and performance across various environments. You will work closely with clients to understand their unique business challenges and translate them into effective database strategies.
In this role, you will:
- Assess and optimize SQL Server performance through monitoring and tuning techniques.
- Develop and implement effective backup and recovery strategies for SQL Server databases.
- Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and design customized database solutions.
- Perform database migrations and integrations with external systems and applications.
- Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance.
- Provide technical support for SQL Server issues and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Create and deliver documentation and training for clients on standard methodologies in database management.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills):
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as an SQL Server Consultant or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of SQL Server architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of T-SQL, database design, and data modeling principles.
- Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions for SQL Server databases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
What will help you stand out (preferred skills):
- Relevant certifications in SQL Server or database management are a plus.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
Working arrangements

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client OR Cognizant office in Toronto, ON.
