The Leidos National Security Sector seeking an experienced System Engineer with a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance to support our highly visible fast paced prime contract at our Leidos site in Columbia, MD area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will successfully demonstrate the following toolsets to complete various functions within our Architecture, helping support and quickly deploy systems into the field.

  • Automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized and cloud microservice based applications utilizing Kubernetes.
  • Configure systems, deploy software, and orchestrate advanced workflows to support application deployment and system updates within our architecture employing Ansible.
  • Work cohesively with Software Engineers and System Administrators to support uploading, organizing, and managing Containers as a Service (CaaS)
  • Manage Rancher by overseeing Kubernetes, addressing Operational and Security alerts to deploy and secure clusters.
  • Perform systems engineering activities and develop and deliver work products in each of the ISO/IEC 15288 Project and Technical Process Areas.
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of other contractor engineers or technicians on a project.
  • Analyze and propose appropriate engineering standards and processes for a project.
  • Assist in conducting an evaluation to determine its suitability for project implementation.
  • Assist in developing a new or innovative approach to a technical or engineering issue.
  • Brief stakeholders and present the status on all technical aspects of their project.
  • Independently make decisions regarding engineering issues and methodology for a project.
  • Approve delivery of work products of multiple Processes Areas defined in the ISO/IEC 15288.
  • Lead contractor systems engineering activities for a project to include supervising the work of the project engineering staff and technicians.
  • Independently resolve important engineering issues requiring the use of advanced technology.
  • Plan and develop engineering projects with unique or complex aspects that impact major capabilities of high priority to the enterprise.
  • Approve delivery of work products of all Process Areas defined in the ISO/IEC 15288.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more Process Areas defined in the ISO/IEC 15288.
  • Design systems/subsystems from requirements.
  • Independently load and configure software
  • Perform testing (unit level and end to end, DT&E 1 and 2, OAT&E)
  • Develop technical manuals, worked with tech writers to produce technical manuals.
  • Develop subsystem and system level training.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active TS SCI w/Poly security clearance
  • Ability to travel. 
  • Experience with the primary toolsets – Kubernetes, Ansible MC, Cloud Technologies, Rancher, and Containers as a Service (Caas).​
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus fifteen (15) years of systems engineering experience, OR  A High School Diploma or GED plus nineteen (19) years of general systems engineering experience OR a Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus eighteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in rack elevation and cabling design
  • Large scale integration (rack and stack) experience

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 – $220,900.00
