Overview:

Under the direction and supervision of the simulation team, the Simulation Technologist will serve as a technical expert who can set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation software, audio/visual equipment, high and mid-fidelity manikins and low-fidelity task trainers, and maintains supply and equipment inventory in the Peterson Education Center.

 

The Sim Team supports numerous training requests for GME, Nurse Residents, Trauma Surgeons, and ED teams. They also teach BLS classes, Pacing classes, EKG Classes, cardiac classes, and our Periop 101 program. We are unable to handle the volume of requests we receive to support new staff and providers.

Responsibilities:

Must have the ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation and AV equipment autonomously or with minimal supervision. Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications.  Must be able to independently lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, lifting, standing, and sitting are required.

 

  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots patient simulators and simulation software/hardware
  • Operates AV system components/functions
  • Sets up and takes down all simulation equipment, supporting medications, and supplies according to simulation scenarios
  • Applies and removes costuming and moulage for simulation scenarios
  • Maintains inventory of medications, supplies, and equipment necessary to support all ongoing simulation scenarios
  • Conducts ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning and repairing, assuring that all equipment is always maintained in good working order and contact vendors as needed
  • Maintain records of cleaning and repairs required and/or completed
  • Maintain and update simulation equipment catalog as needed
  • Track simulation data for grant applications and collating productivity of simulation specialists
  • Maintain daily equipment reservations made through Simulation Teams channel calendar, having awareness of scheduling issues in relation to availability of physical and technical resources
  • Assist with coordinating access, availability and scheduling of simulation space and resources
  • Ensure preparation and storage areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and comply with health and safety regulations
  • Contributes to the strategic planning of the technical infrastructure of the simulation center and reports any technical issues or risks that could impact delivery of services
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including managing calendars, answering phones, ordering office supplies, checking monthly audits, and providing customer service.
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned
  • This job does require occasional travel to other Legacy sites for in situ trainings and manikin maintenance

Qualifications:

Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Technical training or associate’s degree preferred.

 

Experience: 

Preferred experience as a technician in a simulation center, hospital, or related technical environment. Knowledge of patient care simulation technology, patient simulators, and medical terminology is desirable.
