The Demonstration Solutions team is responsible for delivering creative, solution-focused demonstration implementations to the Sales organization for presentation to prospects. As the team continues to grow, we are looking for ways to improve the quality of our demonstration environments.
The position involves working directly with members of the Sales and Demonstration Solutions development team to design, implement, and maintain tests (both manual and automated). We are looking for a strong contributor with development and testing talents to help us assure that our complex web applications meet the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining the test infrastructure for our Demonstration Solutions team. In this role we look for critical thinkers – people who can rapidly consume domain knowledge and design and test comprehensive functionality in Guidewire’s suite of products. We place a high value on being able to contribute to a fast paced environment in a multitude of development related tasks.
The successful candidate will have 3+ years of software testing who will be able to provide thought leadership and guidance on manual and automated testing best practices and implement these standards across the team.
Drive test automation and framework development
Work with the development team to automate testing
Build advanced automated test suites to exercise our world-class applications
Analyze and decompose a complicated software system and design a strategy to test it
You must be a self-starter and able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team environment following Agile processes for software development. You must have strong technical skills, such as the ability to code in an object oriented programming language, editing XML configuration files, or troubleshoot environment configuration issues.
The candidate filling this position will be based out of Guidewire’s headquarters in Foster City, CA.
In addition we are looking for teammates who:
Have a proven track record of successful implementations of testing best practices
Develop automated tests in partnership with developers for continuous regression testing
Identify defects through systematic testing, help developers reproduce errors, and ensure that defects are fixed
Participate throughout the design and development process, analyzing features to point out weaknesses or inconsistencies
Quickly, easily, and enthusiastically learn how to use new technology
Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
Are self-motivated, able to learn and research issues independently
Capable of handling a wide variety of tasks – developing test cases one minute, troubleshooting broken builds the next, filing defects the next
Have strong oral and written communication skills
Are highly technical with experience in following areas:
Object oriented programming fundamentals (inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, etc.)
Programming experience in Java, C#, VB .NET
Experience with automated testing tools and technologies, such as but not limited to Selenium Webdriver, Ranorex, Cucumber, QTP, JUnit, and TestNG
Working knowledge of XML and related technologies
Source control and build frameworks (Subversion, Git, Ant, Jenkins, Maven)
Databases (SQL, transactions, isolation levels, Oracle, SQL Server)
Nice to have skills include:
Property and Casualty Insurance Industry Experience (or even life/health)
A typical candidate has a Computer Science degree or equivalent.
