Software Engineer

Chicago, Illinois Deutsche Boerse Systems Inc

The innovation lab of one of the world’s biggest providers of financial technology, is looking for a problem-solving developer to join its small team in the iconic Willis Tower building in Chicago. Who are we? We are Deutsche Boerse, the German stock exchange, and at our core we build industry-leading trading and clearing systems. With our benchmark Xetra and Eurex trading systems facilitating over 120Bn of financial transactions every single month, we are a critical part of the European financial markets. Beyond that core business, which we have been successfully running for over 30 years, we also invest heavily in wider-ranging financial technology research and development. One of the initiatives supporting that R & D imperative is the Product Development Lab (PDL), a small global team within the larger Deutsche Boerse development organization whose focus is entirely on the practical application of modern and emerging technologies within our broad-based financial technology landscape. Although part of the R & D organization, at PDL we build real production software addressing real problems. Building entirely cloud native applications based on Linux, our technology stack is always evolving and currently includes Git, cloud (primarily Amazon and Google), Terraform, Docker, Golang (Go), Python, React (ergo JavaScript) and Ansible. Who are you? First and foremost, you’re somebody who gets excited about technology and still wants – needs – to learn. Technology dogmatists need not apply. We focus on the person behind the skills when we recruit, but from a practical point-of-view, there are some hard skill requirements and you must be able to check all of these boxes to be considered: A minimum of two years commercial experience developing software in C++, Python or Go under Linux. At least a basic understanding of the DevOps / SRE approach to designing and operating production systems. An understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). An understanding of microservices and service-oriented architectures If you have any of the following, that’s a really nice bonus: Hands-on experience building cloud native solutions on AWS or GCP. Demonstrable experience of programming with Go in a real-world application of substantial size, whether commercial or hobby. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, autonomous and highly focused development team with the security of a large organization with a world-wide reputation for quality. What next? If you have a GitHub, HackerRank, Stack Overflow or similar profile to showcase your talent, please be sure to link to them in your resume! – provided by DiceC++, Python, Go under Linux, Docker, Kubernetes
