Software Engineer (Applied Research)

Job Description

The Applied Research team at C.H. Robinson is transforming the logistics industry. Our team is comprised of Web, and API engineers who are passionate about delivering world class products. We are looking for a passionate, driven, Engineers to help deliver our vision. As part of C.H. Robinson’s Applied Research team, you’ll work with a group of talented and passionate engineers building world class software. You’ll be working with the latest frameworks, languages, and tools available across web, API, and streaming technologies.


Design, develop and deliver code to support new features and enhancements in an agile environment

Construct well-crafted unit tests and automated UI tests

Working with JavaScript UI technologies – React

Working with and creating RESTful web services – Node.JS, .Net Core

Working with messaging technologies – Rabbit MQ, Kafka

Translate high-level requirements into detailed designs, and technical estimates

Design and implement analytics metrics to measure success and product stability

Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies


Passion for software development and solving complex problems

Minimum of 3 years building applications with JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks(React, Angular)

Minimum of 3 years building REST APIs

Proficient with Git, or comparable distributed version control system

Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Node.JS, and .Net Core is a plus

Experience with Docker is a plus

Experience with AWS Lambda or other event-driven, serverless computing platforms is a plus.

Possess solid communication skills

Possess strong customer focus

Should be a self-starter and be able to work under minimal supervision


Undergraduate degree in computer science/software engineering, or equivalent work experience.
