Job Description

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 days per week.

We are looking for an experienced, high-performing Software Engineer to be a part the Automated Driving Data Collection Team. The goal is to create a flexible, automated tool chain that supports collecting interesting data from the real-world for our future self-driving vehicles. Work and interact with multiple cross-functional engineering teams, such as IT, Vehicle Architecture, Sensing Alignment and Data Annotation to collect real world data to support perception algorithm training.

In this position, you will have the chance to support our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) strategy, work at the intersection of hardware, software and advanced sensing technology, and work on Ultra Cruise.


  • Define and develop software for end-to-end data quality enhancement features by creating tools, pushing feature updates, and defining operational procedures

  • Develop software tools to enhance advanced development operations

  • Coordinate with multiple cross-functional engineering teams such as IT, Vehicle Architecture, Sensing Alignment, and Data Annotation to collect real world data that supports Perception algorithm training

  • Define and manage vehicle software states to maintain optimal system operation

  • Identify, solve, and validate issues relating to sensing systems and operability on vehicle

  • Analyze big data to identify unique driving scenarios and objects for optimal routing purposes

Additional Job Description


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree

  • Minimum of 2 years of developing software in Python or C++

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with Angular CLI, PostgreSQL, Spring Boot, Tableau

  • Full-stack web development experience

  • Agile software development experience

  • Experience in software development on Linux systems

  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and collaborate effectively with team members both locally and remotely

  • Experience with data analysis or statistical analysis tools
