Job Description

The Digital Science group of Thermo Fisher Science, located in Branford, Connecticut is seeking an individual skilled in highly dynamic web interface development using web frameworks such as React and Angular with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. We are seeking someone with 4+ years in front-end development, with an emphasis on implementing professional user interfaces for web based consumer facing enterprise applications. You will be joining a top development team, where you will be participating in all phases of product development, from definition and architecture and design, through implementation, debugging, and testing. Candidate should be a highly-motivated individual who thrives on the challenges of working in new environments with the latest technologies. Successful candidates should have strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills; and must have the ability to communicate with team members and customers.
Responsibilities
General
– Deliver clean, attractive, and permanent solutions that match or exceed user expectations
– Promote new user-facing features that are sensible and easily navigated
– Optimize application for scalable, performant and responsive experiences
– Deliver reusable code and libraries for future use
– Transform wireframe designs into high-fidelity deliverables
– Enforce front-end code compliance with web for cross-browser and platform compatibility
– Present and defend technical recommendations to the team
– Assist back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting
– Design and implement moderately complex business/technical requirements including but not limited to; design, construction, system and integration testing, implementation, support, and maintenance.
– Effectively communicate and maintain relationships with team participants across organizational boundaries
– Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments
– Evangelize your ideas and collaborate with Lead UX Designer to create strong UX/UI designs, and use your knowledge to mentor others

Qualifications
Required
– Proficient and passionate command of JavaScript and frameworks such as ReactJS, AngularJS, Vue.js
– Strong command of HTML5, CSS, JQuery, AJAX, JavaServer Pages (JSP), REST, JSON, XML, and integration with back-end languages such as Java
– Experience with RESTful APIs and Web Services
– Experience with responsive design frameworks, editors, forms, and techniques for displaying data grid tables on smaller screens such as tablets
– Familiarity working with Java, standard widgets such as grids, trees, forms, layouts and other standard UI components
– Mentor others on effective tooling, development, debugging and profiling techniques in the UI and web development ecosystems
– Strong background in user interfaces
– Strong understanding of lightweight frameworks that provide more control over the HTML and CSS
– Deep understanding of custom themes, overriding default styles, maintaining modularized CSS, and SASS
– Thorough knowledge of development methodologies, techniques, standards, and the best practices; specifically, Agile (SCRUM, Kanban)
Preferred
– Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Web Development
– Familiarity with Progress/Telerik (KendoUI), ExtJS, NodeJS, ReactJS, Bower, Git, and Gulp
– Familiarity with the OData web services standard
– Strong database knowledge including SQL and NoSQL
– Experience with Atomic Design
– Experience with globalization of application; Internationalization and localization
– Implemented Single-Page Applications (SPAs)
– Working knowledge of tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Git
– Working knowledge of information architecture and design tools such as; Photoshop, Balsamiq, Axure, Visio, LuicidChart, Firebug, TopStyle, and Dreamweaver
– Experience or interest in biotech or pharmaceutical industry
– Experience or knowledge of laboratories and LIMS.
