Key Job Responsibilities:

A large enterprise client of Insight Global is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer/SRE for a direct hire remote position. This individual will work across internal teams to build and operate highly reliable systems while minimizing restrictions on release velocity. Youll take a broad view and respond strategically to problems with a focus on reliability and member experience. As an team member, youll spend at least 50% of your time developing software to improve observability and reliability. This team acts as an internal consulting group within the organization primarily using code to solve complex application problems across 20+ business units. This individual would have the chance to join a team supporting 2,500+ applications across the entire enterprise, consisting of over 300 development lines. Additional opportunities for bi-monthly learning seminars lead by team members and various executives are also encouraged.

Uses and applies strategies in monitoring, automation, performance, and process engineering to improve the user experience, application architecture and resiliency.

Diagnoses availability, latency and performance issues; making improvements in code and configuration to achieve service level objectives efficiently at scale with minimal human intervention.

Assists peers and leaders to influence and guide product teams to implement SRE principles and practices.

Creates and implements tools of moderate to low complexity to automate toil and improve the reliability of systems.

Supports production as part of a 24×7 on-call rotation.

Works with architects and engineers to design reliability in to new and existing systems.

Plusses:

Insurance/financial services industry experience

Interest in learning about DevOps, New Relic, and Splunk

Knowledge or interest in CI/CD tools (Eclipse IDE, Jenkins, or Harness)
Must Haves:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or any other IT related fields

2-4+ years of IT industry experience

Proficient programming experience in Java, . NET, C#, or Angular

Scripting tools experience (Python, Powershell, or Bash)

Strong communication and high sense of urgency
