The Opportunity
This position works out of our St Paul, MN location in the Electrophysiology Medical Device division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
What You’ll Work On
- Participate in application feature definition activities working cross-functionally with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Human Factors, Clinical Engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to overall project success and define necessary activities to achieve desired business results.
- Work closely with cross-function team, including design reviews with QA, RA, test engineers, hardware engineers to ensure the software & firmware design meets the product requirements, including safety, reliability and serviceability. Be creative and innovative in the product development process.
- Identify, quantify and resolve technical risks which may require cross functional collaboration to resolve complex system interactions
- Support management of subsystem requirements including definition, decomposition, analysis and traceability to ensure clear and unambiguous software requirements
- Ensure that all activities conform to Quality and compliance requirements
- Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
- Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timelines
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering or related discipline.
- 0-2 years of experience in software development or medical device field
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for technology and willingness to learn Desired Characteristics
- Programming experience
- Agile software development
- C++, Linux, Jira, Windchill, Jenkins
- Familiarity with all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle and methodologies
