GDIT has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer, TS/SCI Clearance, supporting U.S. Army Europe as a member of our EMITS program Team in Wiesbaden Germany.

The Systems Engineer designs, develops, installs, manages and monitors all Information Technology Systems and infrastructure. The Sys Eng installs, configures, tests and performs routine maintenance on operating systems, application software and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems performance and availability. Performs administrative operation and maintenance functions of server hardware and software. Maintains system security and executes common practices and procedures. Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings.

Troubleshoots and rapidly resolves system related problems. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system. Develop and maintain documentation, diagrams, and SOPs on new and existing systems.

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER MAKES AN IMPACT

  • Has full technical knowledge of all phases of systems engineering
  • Design, Development, Installation configuration, and deployment of mission systems
  • Design, Development, Installation, configuration, and deployment of virtualization infrastructure
  • Design, Development, Installation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise storage platforms
  • Analyzes complex information and independently takes appropriate actions to resolve problems
  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans
  • Develops technical documentation, system architecture, SOPs, diagrams, and system design documentation
  • Evaluates, develops, and delivers technical input to the systems engineering process
  • Validates the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues and propose courses of action to leadership
  • Designs and delivers solutions

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEE

  • Security Clearance Required: Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent technical training and work/military experience.
  • Skills and Experience: Strong understanding of systems architectures, system design, employment of systems and dependent sub-systems, systems administration, and system networking; Experience with storage systems and common virtualization technologies; Experience with networking devices, and encryptors; Experience configuring and administrating Windows-based server and Linux operating systems; Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores; Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems; Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving system problems and design flaws; Background in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies, DoD software policies, and DoD test and evaluation requirements; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small team; Thoroughly understands systems engineering for client-server based architectures supporting broad base of applications; Strong technical writing skills required; Detail oriented and organized
  • Certification: Must have valid DoD 8570 OAT II certification Candidate must have a current Operating System Computing Environment certification (i.e. MCSE, MCSA, Azure or equivalent certification)

Salary and Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $101,566 – $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
