Arconic is currently in search of a Sr. Staff Accountant – Corporate Consolidations to join the Finance group in Pittsburgh, PA.
This position is responsible for corporate financial accounting/internal financial reporting according to Arconic’s accounting policies and procedures. In doing so, the individual must support a high level of data and accounting integrity.
This position will be responsible for maintaining the chart of account values for Arconic.
This position will have administrator duties for the Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) application.
This position will prepare and assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting requirements, including quarterly and annual governmental and SEC reports.
This position is expected to act independently in performing daily tasks such as developing accounting and administrative procedures, generating financial and analytical reports, performing ad hoc analysis, and other data gathering requirements. Major Activities/Key Challenges:
Daily operation and maintenance of the Hyperion Financial Management system (HFM).
Maintain and updated the HFM user guides.
Design, implement, and test HFM system modifications that result from changes in accounting policy.
Record consolidation adjustments during the monthly closing process.
Closing system processing within HFM.
Maintain financial reporting system values, descriptions, hierarchies, and other related information for all chart of accounts segments. This includes maintaining the legal, business unit, segment, and geographic hierarchies in the Global Data Warehouse Master Instance, Arconic Dimension Repository and Hyperion Financial Management consolidation system.
Receive and evaluate users requests for new chart of account values or hierarchy changes to determine proper assignment and validity. This includes evaluation of the underlying accounting entries to be processed with the values and the determination of the proper placement in the reporting structure. Communicate with users to confirm request details and business purpose. Provide information to Financial Accounting approvers to facilitate their timely review (impact on consolidation reports, formulas, rules).
Coordinate the approval of proposed chart of account changes with downstream application administrators (GL Analytics, Global Planning, BU Planning, etc.) to ensure proposed changes are acceptable to their integrated systems (impact on reports, formulas, rules).
Coordinate monthly process to migrate chart of account changes to the regional on-line transaction processing systems from the master instance.
Working with Arconic’s existing Special Transaction Approval (STA) process, ensure that the correct system changes (Ownership) are in place for approved transactions, and formulate/coordinate necessary journal entries to reflect the change as part of Arconic’s consolidated results.
Prepare external format financials along with other supporting data and ratios at various levels of the organization for governmental and other reporting requirements.
Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements to be filed with the SEC.
Work with various levels of business and corporate financial personnel on a variety of accounting issues related to management reporting, including ad hoc analysis, issue resolution, and financial policies and procedures. Essential Knowledge & Skills:
Arconic’s legal/internal structure and policies are complicated and challenging to master. The individual in this position is expected to develop a solid working knowledge of both areas and will be consulted regularly for input as issues arise. An appropriate amount of time must be devoted to learning and understanding how both the legal/internal structure and accounting policies affect the consolidation of Arconic’s businesses. There are a series of complex HFM rules which must be understood both from a technical and operational standpoint.
Proficient in using personal computers, spreadsheet, and query software. Customers:
Internal – Financial Transactions and Policy, Financial Planning and Analysis, Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Business Units
External – Shareholders, Analysts
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
5 years of financial or accounting experience Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting or finance
Understanding of Arconic’s accounting processes and organizational structure
Working experience with accounting software or other related systems
Knowledge of HFM/Smart-View and Oracle Accounting modules
Working knowledge of Microsoft office macros
