The RI & S Advanced Manufacturing, Modernization, and Technology (AMMT) team is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative team member to join the multi-discipline Automation Engineering team as a DevOps/Digital Factory Software developer intern. This position will aid in the maintenance and troubleshooting of deployed factory automation software as well as contribute to both the user interface and the back end components of the various software systems, configure and program automation and control systems, and utilize various third party APIs to create new device drivers. The Software developer intern incorporates advanced Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies as well as identify opportunities for process improvements via lean techniques. The position will be networked across RIS factories, which includes locations in McKinney (TX), Forest (MS), Santa Barbara County (CA), El Segundo (CA) and Largo (FL), in addition to operations and automation engineers from other Raytheon Technologies business units. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in programming ability, be a self-starter, have an engineering mindset, and the ability to provide troubleshooting support. This experience could have been obtained in previous internships, R & D or school projects. They have the ability to adapt and work with both IT and operations in this DevOps role. This position may require travel to various locations around the country and some off-hours work to support factory maintenance and deployments. Key_Responsibilities_For_The_Qualified_Candidate_Include Learn, support and enhance Raytheon s IoT and Digital Factory platforms Work as an integrated, multi-discipline team member Assist in development of new IoT and Industry 4.0 functionality Update portions of the user interface software Support various backend interface components Design, develop, test and document new Digital Factory systems functionality or components Partner with IT and IT Security to design supportable systems Develop improved user training and speed adoption of new tools to the floor For_Multi-Level_Intern_Requisitions: This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position. G04 (College Junior by Fall 2021) – must have completed 60 hours of college G05 (College Senior by Fall 2021) – must have completed 90 hours of college NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2021) – must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program Security_Clearance_ & _Other_Requirements: U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.Requirements: Experience with one or more of the following through prior internships, R & D or coursework Experience working with IT, OT or other integration projects (in or out of school) Experience developing a solution using one or more of the following: LabVIEW, Python, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or other programming language Experience with Database, Web server, Storage, Network, Active Directory Ability to work with Integration of Hardware and Software Systems Understanding of automation programming environments Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving skills Strong written and Verbal communication skills Desired_Skills: Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying). LabVIEW and Test Stand or Python expertise Familiarity with DevOps, Scrum, and/or Agile Familiarity with SCADA systems Deployment and Support Understanding of networking and communications architecture Familiarity with Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory concepts, Digital Manufacturing Simulation Understanding of Lean principles and terminology Experience with cyber and/or cyber-physical systems security protocols Familiarity with SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Experience with PLCs, MTConnect, and/or Transactional Automation (use of API, XML) Familiarity with ISA-95 and ISA-99 Architectures Experience or education in systems engineering and application to automation systems. Experience in integrating multi-disciplined projects Integration with robotics and various forms of physical and digital automation Required_Education: Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from an accredited university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2021. Must be working towards a degree in the engineering field (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, or Industrial), or other related discipline.
