Position Summary:

The Systems Engineer – Requirements Management fulfills a critical team role, acting as a liaison between an External Customer, Project Management, and Internal Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Groups. In this role, you will work with the customer to ensure complete specifications, allocate technical budgets among subsystems, define subsystem interfaces, and create system level CDRL/SDRL's. Specific areas of ownership include system level requirements and artifacts, and system level Risk / FMECA / SHA documents. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, exhibits a passion for defining requirements and interfaces, and has a background in hydraulic system design.

Key Results Areas:

1. Lead subsystem and component level requirement management processes and tools across mechanical and electrical engineering teams, utilizing a "right-size" approach to ensure efficiency across a wide range of project / program complexity and industries

2. Interface with customers during project / program initiation to architect subsystems and components.

3. Define and manage system and subsystem interface control documents and requirements.

4. Facilitate project Feasibility / Conceptual reviews to ensure alignment between customer system and internal subsystems. Ensure complete and accurate project specifications throughout project lifecycle.

5. Lead requirement decomposition for both electrical and mechanical subsystems with subsystem Project Engineers

a. Review external customer requirements and facilitate decomposition to component and functional levels

b. Review compliance methodology and verification plans to ensure proper artifact generation

c. Review risk assessment and requirement prioritization

6. Lead project risk management including SHA, FMEA, FMECA

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

Education and Training

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering

• Comprehensive experience working in a high aptitude engineering environment.

Experience:

• 5+ years of working directly with related electrical mechanical systems

• Demonstrated experience with Requirement Management tool setup / configuration

• Demonstrated experience leading successful programs by creating a requirements-based culture utilizing system engineering tools and best practices

• Experience decomposing customer / marketing requirements into multidisciplinary engineering requirements

• Extensive experience working within a phase gate product design process

  • Demonstrated Success with new clean sheet product to production programs, including Validation & verification for regulated industries
  • Experience with Safety Hazard Analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis and associated standards: MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-1629A, IEC-60812, AS13004
  • Familiarity with reliability analysis (MTBF), planning and testing
  • Experience working within multiple industry standards, including:
    • DO-160
    • MIL-STD
    • CE
    • ATEX
    • NASA
    • ISO 13485
    • IPC
  • Delivery of difficult programs on-schedule / budget

Other:

• Must be willing to work overtime as required

• Travel up to 30% of working time.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $120,000. – $145,000. This range represent the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant's qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
