Maxar is seeking a highly cleared Systems Engineer to join our team supporting our government client. In this role you will apply system engineering, test engineering, scripting, and system administration skills in an operational environment in support of an operational enterprise system providing data ingest, archive, retrieval, display, and dissemination to over 2000 active users.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Utilize strong technical foundation with skills such as scripting and working to get tools from production into operation using systems engineering skills. 
• Develop innovative solutions and coordinate those solutions between members of the technical and operational staff at a classified government site and end-users in the field. 
• Work closely with customers, operational staff, and development staff to solve problems in an operational environment. 
• Maintain current knowledge of engineering practices and technical solutions. 
• Create system documentation and deployment schedules. 
• Develop and execute formal verification and validation activities. 
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement automated test tools and strategies. 
• Write, implement and report status for system test cases for testing. 
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. 
• Take direction from senior technical leadership and/or Project Manager on project specifications. 
• Setup, configure and maintain various Linux and/or Windows VMs to support development, test, integration, and operational software threads. 
• Coordinate, direct and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. 
• Schedule installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. 
• Setup, configure and maintain Cloud environments (i.e. AWS). 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI with required polygraph
• Experience with automated deployment technologies such as CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and Terraform. 
• Demonstrated ability to automate repetitive tasks, deploy configurations across large networks, and ensure consistency and compliance across the infrastructure. 
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, or similar platforms. 
• Ability to set up various server types, including web, database, and application servers. 
• Linux system administration experience (RedHat and/or CentOS). 
• Working knowledge of web application architectures and relational databases. 
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment. 
• Accepting the following levels:
  • Junior: Typically requires a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a Master's degree without experience; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Mid:  Typically requires a minimum of 3-7 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 1-5 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

Nice to Have's:

• Computer Science or related degree. 
• Security+ or comparable certification for privileged user access. 
• Specific experience configuring and managing network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. 
• Monitoring network performance and ensuring system availability and reliability. 
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools. 
• AWS Cloud deployment and management experience. 
• Prior experience deploying and managing Hashicorp tools such as Packer, Terraform, Vault, Consul, and Nomad. 
• Prior experience with containerization technologies like Docker and using Kubernetes to manage and scale deployments. 
• Configuring and managing storage solutions like SAN and NAS and specific experience with NetApp storage and retrieval.

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$128,000.00 – $214,000.00 annually.
