SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Systems Engineer – Submarine Navigation Systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary: SEACORP is seeking a fulltime Systems Engineer with experience in VoyageManagement Systems (VMS) or ECDIS products aboard US Navy vessels.

A Systems Engineer, alsoknown as lead systems analyst, a network engineer who can also program, or asoftware engineer who can also manage networks, is an engineering professionalwho oversees the creation of hybrid software, web and hardware products frominitial specifications to final roll-out and maintenance.

Ideal candidates will becomputer literate, self-motivated, and able to utilize creative thinking inproblem solving and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate mustbe flexible and willing to work with a team to overcome problems. The desire tolearn new subsystems, capabilities, and processes is a must. Recent ET(NAV)experience highly desired as well as being motivated, autonomous, with theability take task ownership.

Experience with SWSNavigation (SWS NAV) system and BYG-1 is a bonus.

Essential Capabilities:

  • Test and troubleshoot VMS in various baselines and builds,documenting all problems and actions taken.
  • Support the development of new VMS and Navy ECDIS builds, assisting withclarifying requirements and creating user stories.
  • Support the fleet via remote or in person troubleshooting of variousnavigation applications.
  • Attend meetings in support of long term Navigation application (VMS, MPA, NPL)developments.
  • Generate reports, tests, and other documentation surrounding the testing anddeveloping of VMS and NECDIS.
  • Present information before various other groups and agency for cross agencyproblem solving and statusing.
  • Support the fleet acting as a Navigation SME, providing remote troubleshootingand trouble report tracking.
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot VMS and Navigation Laptops using deliveredsoftware.
  • Track various issues across multiple baselines and understandingthe process of system engineering to resolve issues.
  • Understand the inner workings of BYG-1, and all its navigation inputs.
  • Take direction from government leads.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in an engineering field is required, however in lieu of a formal degree, significantexperience with navigation and submarine operations will be accepted.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related experience required.

Clearance: Secret

SEACORP follows ITAR guidelines for the work it performs as a federal contractor. Consequently, US citizenship is needed for all positions requiring a security clearance.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: This position operates in standard Office, Assembly Laboratory, and Aboard Vessel/Shipyard environments. Standard offices and laboratories: Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting. In shipyards and aboard vessels: Significant use of hands to operate equipment and tools. Significant lifting of 40 lbs. Sitting, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, lying prone, and squatting on a daily basis. Work is performed in highly variable work conditions to include seasonable variations in weather and temperature. High probability of working in confined spaces where movement is restricted. Dust, noise and constant activity associated with the movements of materials and people, and the fabrication of steel, including welding and the use of overhead cranes/hoists. Personal Protective Equipment: safety shoes and hard hat required; hearing protection and safety glasses recommended.
