Do you want to be part of a new journey, a journey towards excellence in future digital product development? Look no further. VELUX has established a new Smart Product Technology R&D unit with the task of identifying, prioritizing, and incubating the right digital technologies to secure VELUX’s long-term competitiveness within smart products. We are opening several positions as part of this investment, the lead specialist in data science being one of them. The right candidate will become part of an R&D team consisting of highly specialized, experienced senior professionals.
VELUX is a market-leading and global company. We are investing significantly in digitization and we are now taking the next steps in a new journey towards future market-leading VELUX smart products.
VELUX has started the journey of connecting digital products to the Internet, integrating them into smart home eco-systems, and ultimately aiming at enabling a better and healthier indoor environment. The focus of the Smart Product Technology R&D team, located in VELUX’s R&D office in Østbirk, is to continue and accelerate this journey. That is, to set the strategic digital technology direction and ensure that VELUX will continuously benefit from the rapid development within digital growth technologies like electronics, communications, and AI.
Besides being the lead specialist in data science, we are looking for an analytical and methodical colleague who shares our passion for pushing the product envelope in terms of ease-of-use, sustainability, and product quality.
The right candidate will play a key role in developing and setting VELUX’s long-term digital technology agenda in cooperation with internal stakeholders across the organization, and through partnerships with top national and international high-tech companies and universities.
The role is to lead the identification, prioritization, and focus of efforts within data science for future VELUX smart products. You will be responsible for helping drive the data science technology and research strategy, i.e. the investigation, design, and implementation of the core of future VELUX smart product software. You will incubate new data-driven features and deliver proof-of-concepts, either through in-house development or through partnerships. Initially, the role involves scoping, prioritizing, and managing the development of models and data products that enable us to analyze and understand what we can do even better with our available data. As a lead specialist in data science, you will develop and continuously improve our data model and data warehouse design and make the data both accessible and visually understandable.
In collaboration with your team and Product Management, you will build tools and automated processes to enable scaling up the usage of data-driven services as a critical, fully integrated element in the new VELUX smart products. You will play a key role in designing and setting up the data-driven analytics software platform, as part of our cloud computing solution within our new smart product technology prototype lab. You will be responsible for the continuous technology scouting process for long-term potentials in emerging, potentially disrupting, software developments within data science. In doing so, you will partner and prototype with 3rd party companies, including open-source software and hardware providers.
We expect a lot of our people. The job is challenging and influential on a global scale, where the right candidate will be offered a setup that can create a big impact across the organization as well as on future VELUX smart products.
