Position: PCS System Engineer

Nature of Role: We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to provide support within our AN/BYG-1 Payload Control Sub-System (PCS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) at NUWCDIVNPT. This will include development and testing of unmanned vehicles, future launcher systems and weapon systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for collaboration within a team of highly experienced engineers and technicians working together to enhance a broad scope of capabilities within PCS across numerous platforms. The Systems Engineer will focus on the administrative and technical aspects of integrating new capabilities into the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System while maintaining strict adherence to customer’s requirements, testing schedules, and integration timelines. Candidates must be self-motivated and possess a comfortable level of knowledge of systems administration, network administration, software and hardware troubleshooting, and process documentation. Candidates will occasionally be called upon to support other areas as needed as a result of their duties to include: Test and Evaluation, Cyber Accreditation, and the drafting of technical documentation and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing schedule and material de-confliction to facilitate PCS test events.
  • Conducting technical functional assessments of software deliveries
  • Facilitating lab-based security assessments to ensure compliance for cyber accreditation
  • Reviewing and submitting change requests for PCS requirements to reflect customer needs
  • Providing systems engineering analysis of test cases to optimize test and lab scheduling
  • Providing subject matter expertise in safety assessment reports to assess impact and risk probability
  • Participation in SE and T&E milestones including TRR, SDCT, SDVR, DRR
  • Obtaining SME level of knowledge on assigned functional areas
  • Reviewing applicable test shift reports and contractor OQE
  • Liaison with contractor test personnel to coordinate and resolve T&E issues and events
  • Monitoring and verifying build status and content
  • Resolving and verifying PTR fixes
  • Performing test execution, participation, witness, and oversight
  • Ability to infrequently support off shift and weekend shifts
  • Conduct testing, perform analysis, and PTR reporting
  • Resolution of test program comments, issues, and activities
  • Review and update of test tools, including generation of test checklists and scenarios
  • Development of test procedures and scenarios
  • PTR V&V
  • Deployed Systems issue investigation
  • Participation in the following work groups:
    1. System Note Working Group
    2. Integration and Test Working Group
    3. Program Trouble Report Board
    4. Other work groups as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Desire to work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems
  • Excellence in communication as a liaison with contractor and government personnel to resolve issues

  • Must possess an intimate understanding of security practices in relation to working with classified material, proper handling of classified material, need to know, Operational Security and Information Security
  • Four (4) year Degree in Engineering or a closely related field (physics, Math, Operations Research, etc.)
  • Eight (8) years of experience in developmental or operational T&E of tactical US Naval vessels, weapons, software or systems. Prior Navy experience with submarine combat systems is highly desired
  • Proven ability to successfully and efficiently monitor systems.
  • Travel requirement is 10%
