MongoDB Database Administrator

Location: Remote

Experience: 7+ years

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade MongoDB databases on various platforms.
• Manage database servers in standalone, replica set, and sharded cluster configurations.
• Perform database migrations, backups, and restorations to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Optimize queries, indexes, and database structure to improve performance.
• Implement best practices for database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Implement database security policies, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Perform audits and ensure databases comply with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Manage roles and permissions for database users.
• Design and maintain disaster recovery plans, including failover strategies.
• Set up and maintain replication and sharding for scalability and high availability.
• Ensure 24/7 availability of production databases.
• Work closely with developers, DevOps, and other teams to support database needs.
• Provide technical guidance on MongoDB usage and best practices.
• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB in replica sets and sharded clusters.
• Strong knowledge of MongoDB architecture, query language, and tools.
• Proficiency in backup and recovery methods.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Certifications.

MongoDB certification (e.g., MongoDB Certified DBA).

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $49,001 – 92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
