We are currently seeking a Senior Linux Engineer – Irving, Texas to join our team in Irving, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Senior Linux Engineer

The Grid/HPC (High Performance Computing) engineer will work as a key member of the Symphony Grid Engineering team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • This person will work closely with the vendor and internal clients to engineer and support technical solutions for the Grid platform, leveraging modern and innovative technologies to deliver the optimal stability and performance.
  • The candidate should be able to employ a methodical approach towards evaluating new and emerging technologiesthat will have a direct and measurable impact to one or more business units.

Basic, Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in:
    • Modern Linux operating system (RHEL distribution preferred)
    • Linux systems administration in standalone, cloud or virtualized environment
    • Linux containers (Docker/Podman/K8s/EKS/OCP etc.)
    • OS performance tuning and troubleshooting, Linux security, networking, auditing,and compliance concepts

Other Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Ansible automation
  • Experience with IBM Spectrum Symphony Grid
  • Experience with IBM Spectrum Symphony Grid Multicluster
  • Experience with IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) filesystem
  • Working knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS cloud architectures and the capabilities and challenges involved with their implementation in cloud environments
  • Intermediate Python scripting (OS automation etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively on individual tasks and work well within a team dynamic
  • Ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts, tools, and technologies in a fast-paced enterprise environment
  • Ability to engineer and troubleshoot distributed client-server network applications
  • Great shell scripting skills
  • Fundamental experience with relational databases
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks asynchronously without constant supervision
  • Strong team-player and collaborator
  • Most of the team is based in Texas; availability in UTC-5 time zone is a plus
