The National Security Sector at Leidos is currently hiring for a Software Engineer (SWE) for an Agile, cloud-based data, and analytics platform contract. This role will be responsible for developing customized software programs for system functionality, analyzing business and end-user requirements, designing functional software functionality using SecDevOps principles to address business/end-user requirements, modifying and/or re-configuring COTS software for system integration, documenting functional aspects of associated applications, and deploying software bug fixes and/or improvements to address evolving requirements. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team. This role is expected to be on-site at a Leidos facility in Gaithersburg, MD, with travel to various government sites in the Washington Metro Area. This opportunity is contingent upon contract award.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Analyze customer requirements to integrate data into Azure Delta Lake COTS product. 
  • Upgrade existing software as new increments are defined. 
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Design or implement complex data repository interfaces/queries.
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed data repositories.
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas.
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have a Green Card.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance (Background Investigation). 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar and two to four years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than two years of prior relevant experience.
  • Apply understanding of technical issues surrounding the designing, building, and testing of software supporting applications, cloud platforms, and frameworks.
  • Apply research skills to identify various methods and solutions to complex software challenges.
  • Requires ability to apply standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of technical domain.
  • Addresses complex technical issues/problems using internal best practice and through collaboration with colleagues.
  • Develops solutions to technical problems that require depth of technical knowledge.
  • Experience in usage of Azure Cloud technologies and infrastructure.

Favorable if you have:

  • At least two years of experience with Agile IT product delivery (Agile delivery experience must be within the last year), Agile Methodologies and Best Practices.
  • Object-oriented programming languages (Python, Java, Scala, R, C++, etc.)
  • Bash, Python scripting.
  • Spark Framework.
  • Azure Blob Storage, Data Factory, Databricks.
  • Databases relational and non-relational (MySQL, PostGreSQL, NoSQL, MongoDB).
  • Microsoft Azure cloud experience.
  • Agile DevOps tools experience (GitLab, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Databricks Dashboards, Power BI, and/or Tableau.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 – $117,500.00
