The Opportunity

Vice President, Information Technology

This is an outstanding opportunity with one of the top academic and community medical centers in the country. This position will be a part of a high-performing, quality-focused senior leadership team in a results-driven, evolving health care system. The new Vice President of Information Technology (IT) must lead the vision of “From Health Care to Health” by forging strong relationships with the UCHealth enterprise to create an overall entity unparalleled in the United States today.

The Vice President will direct and oversee the Technology Services group which entails information technology infrastructure architecture and operations for UCHealth, including the data centers (servers and storage), voice and data network, end-user services (desktop and mobile computing), information security, and IT enterprise risk management. The successful candidate is an experienced IT leader with excellent vision, creativity, leadership, organizational, and delivery skills with the ability to design and implement strategic plans and projects over multiple years while navigating 24×7 operational service management.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to: System Chief Information Officer, UCHealth

Responsibilities

  • Provides broad-reaching, strategic, and operational direction to staff and organization related to the UCHealth IT strategy with a focus on the technical infrastructure. Plans the level of resources needed in each function and provides high-level input for the selection and training of personnel.
  • Works with customers to determine operational and clinical needs which may be met through the use of information technology services and solutions. Prioritizes initiatives to maximize efficiency of operational and clinical resources.
  • Conducts risk evaluation and risk management activities to ensure reliable and available IT services and solutions.
  • Plans and architects innovative multi-year roadmaps for IT services and solutions. Presents those plans for IT solutions and services to customers including leadership and organizational governance groups, which may include the Board of Directors and/or Board subcommittees.
  • Creates, manages, and presents annual capital and expense budgets.
  • Works with external vendors; reviews and negotiates contracts.

  • Passion and expertise related to information security, enterprise risk management, managed security services, and navigating the overall healthcare cyber landscape.
  • Passion and experience with IT service management, service level management, and customer service improvement with a focus on end-user services, incident management, problem management, user provisioning, and system availability.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisition, and joint venture initiatives bringing multiple organizations or teams together to create synergies, process improvements and staffing efficiencies, along with cost reduction.
  • Effectively manage performance of technical staff and leaders and design and inspire improvements to drive value to UCHealth
  • Technically innovative and forward-thinking specifically focused on how we can make our patients, our clinicians, and other staff members more efficient and effective (e.g., mobility, public/private cloud, security/accessibility, collaboration, virtual health).

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience; and 6+ years of leadership experience
  • Strong vision, strategic planning, customer service, collaboration, change management, and communication skills are required.

Preferred Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • At least 8 years of leadership experience
  • Experience as Chief Technology Officer and/or VP/Senior Director/Director of Information Technology in multi-entity health system
