BILL is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to build and scale our Spend and Expense software solutions. If you are passionate about building great platforms, excited about solving real-world customer issues, enjoy mentoring all types of engineers, and are interested in working on challenging problems on a daily basis, this is the job for you! 

This individual will be a member of the Identity team and will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable platforms for the BILL’s Spend and Expense area involving authentication and authorization. Proven experience in leading, scoping, designing and implementing end-to-end software solutions is a must.

Identity Team

This team will be responsible for designing and implementing login, authentication, and authorization solutions using in-house and integrated 3rd party solutions to connect users to our BILL platform. This role will specialize in Elixir and service communication technologies to integrate numerous systems. This team will innovate and collaborate with most of our core areas in Spend and Expense as well as with our AP/AR products. 

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, or closely related field
  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • Ability to lead a team of developers in building complex software solutions
  • Proven ability to take the product through all stages of development from concept to launch
  • Expertise with all aspects of SDLC including code reviews, unit testing, automation testing and CI/CD
  • Experience with system and platform design
  • Extensive experience with authentication and authorization systems
  • Expert-level knowledge in like areas Elixir, Ruby, Java, SQL databases, Kafka
  • Expertise in making step-function improvements in performance and scale of platforms
  • Business acumen – able to leverage the platform to solve business problems
  • Passion for great products and building great customer experiences

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with tools like Splunk, Datadog, Mixpanel, LaunchDarkly etc.
  • Expertise with using AWS to build services
  • Familiar with frontend development with React and Angular
  • Knowledge and experience in one of – accounting OR ERP OR FinTech (back-end, e.g., Payments)

The estimated salary  range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role.  Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

San Jose pay range
$175,000$210,000 USD

The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper, UT. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL’s bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

$148,800$178,500 USD
