Job Purpose: The Claims Legal Project Manager assists the Corporate Claims department and Regional VP of claims with managing the company’s insurance compliance and claims handling procedures. This includes monitoring, researching and communicating, legal trends, and case law requirements to leaders across the organization; facilitating organizational decisions around compliance and implementation of key initiatives; and claims process changes with direct oversight of specific projects as assigned.

Results Expected and Duties Performed
Collaborates with departments such as IT, Regional Claims Leadership, Training, VP of MD and VP of Casualty to coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of new programs and processes.
Assist in the development and implementation of procedures on proper business practices and communicate these to the business areas.
Directs the activities of the project team with the goal of completing the project on schedule and within budget constraints.
Advise and direct multiple and concurrent legal project team initiatives designed to support the organization’s response to the identified special projects.
Applies advanced knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable special projects. Develops strategic planning, and advocates administering new policies, or processes.
Presents recommendations to internal committees and executive management, and assist with the implementation of resulting decisions for change/resolution.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. preferred.
Experience: At least 7 years of substantial and progressive experience in an insurance claims department experience with personal auto required
At least 3 Years of experience working in a Claims Litigation department preferred
Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); In-depth and current knowledge of state and local laws and regulations pertinent to the insurance industry. Individuals must be knowledgeable about Florida Automobile Insurance Laws & Florida PIP at a minimum, Familiarity with the Company’s other states of operations is a plus, Experience with personal automobile policy contract language construct and other insurance documents including but not limited to the declarations page, named driver exclusions, cancellations, etc.; Effectively organize and coordinate tasks, and activities to yield efficient workflow with the various functional departments in the organization;. Able to apply logic, reasoning and experience to identify approaches and solutions to problems.
