Air Quality Principal Consultant/Technical Director (Anchorage)

ERM seeks an experienced Air Quality Principal Consultant / Technical Director to provide team leadership, technical expertise, project management, and business development support for our AQCC team in the Mountain West BU, with a specific focus on Alaska. The ideal candidate will have established relationships with oil and gas, mining, and other commercial sector clients in Alaska and the northwest US. As a senior leader, this person will managed the AQCC group in Mountain West and will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting on a range of air quality and compliance projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM’s global technical team to pursue work across the industry. ERMs Air Quality & Climate Change technical community pursues and wins highly innovative engagements for the most interesting clients, providing the full breadth of air quality and climate change services. With annual global sales in excess of $50 million, ERMs Air Quality & Climate Change technical community is one of the largest among its peers in our industry. In North America alone, ERM has more than 300 dedicated air quality and climate change professionals. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supervise key members of the the AQCC group in the Mountain West Business Unit. * Develop and implement strategic business/action plan, provide leadership, and deliver performance results to expand the air quality services and client base in Alaska and the northwest US. Serve as a key member of the core technical team to drive double-digit profitable growth across the air quality service line. * As a seller/doer, contribute to business development of ERMs global Air Quality & Climate Change technical community. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships. * Serve as senior practitioner for air projects and related activities in support of ERM clients with a focus on energy, mining, and commercial projects. Manage strategic air permits and compliance assurance programs for a variety of industrial clients with complex technical/regulatory issues. Work closely with clients and develop strong relationships to understand specific processes and develop a permitting and compliance strategy to help clients maintain maximum operating flexibility. Achieve clients expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality. * Serve as a technical resource on air quality compliance assurance and permitting programs, including regulatory analyses of industrial facility operations; major and minor source air permit applications under NSR, PSD, Title V, and state-level regulations; and NESHAP MACT compliance programs. * Build and maintain client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the Air Quality service area in Alaska and the Mountain West BU. * Lead technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. * Capitalize on existing client relationships to expand ERMs profile and market share in the regional air quality, climate change, and oil & gas, chemical, and power markets (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development). * Effectively manage project teams (including across multiple ERM offices), including appropriately delegating project assignments to project teams and mentoring junior staff. REQUIREMENTS: * BS/MS in environmental studies, environmental engineering or related field; PE, CEP, AICP or similar registration desired. * 15+ years of consulting experience with air quality compliance and permitting. * Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies in Alaska. * Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, and book personal sales in new air consulting services. * Established relationships with oil and gas, mining, and other commercial companies. * Solid grasp of the key air-related issues within the oil and gas sector, as well as a high degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of air quality best practices. * Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the marketplace, including positive reputation with key regulators relevant to air quality compliance and permitting. * Well-developed team building and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges. * Positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company.
