Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Intern will be working along side team to work on projects that may include:

– Review machining processes to determine the best available method to fabricate parts with the greatest program, set-up, and machine efficiency. Decide which parts should run on what machines for best factory flow and throughput.

– Complete Engineering Introduction Orders (EIO) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in a timely manner.

– Assist operators with troubleshooting of program problems and/or program improvement to increase productivity. Evaluate set-ups, program cycles, operator movements, wasted motion, wasted events, along with machine and process improvements. Solve problems related to operator error, machine error, maintenance problems, yield problems, etc. and generate ideas that help with factory flow, throughput, ergonomics, material cost saving, machine cost savings, etc.

– Create rework programs to fix problems that may be created in a department other than a CNC machining department

– Collaborate with R & D, Fabrication, and Design to produce sample parts for market.

– Continually evaluate and learn about existing software and hardware to effectively use the software’s abilities. Keep backup PCs up-to-date and available for emergency use when a PC used on the production floor becomes unusable.

– Provide backup and assistance to all other CNC Programmers and to the CNC Programming manager.

– Maintain reliable attendance

– Actively participate in departmental meetings, training, and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.

– Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
Job Requirements

– Required:working toward applicable degree in a related field of CNC programming

– Desired: CNC Programming training in the use of Solid Modeling software, Cam software, G-code, Fanuc controllers, part nesting, bills of material, operation of CNC equipment, MS Office Suite, and MRP

– Minimum of 1 months working on a CNC controlled machine desired and a good knowledge of how a CNC program works
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

– Cam software, G-code, Fanuc controllers, part nesting, and operation of CNC equipment

– Documents Management Systems

– Solids Modeling software, CAM software

– Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools

– Record Management

– Experience in woodworking or furniture manufacturing

– Effective time management and organizational skills

– Work independently as well as in a team environment

– Effective interpersonal communication skills

– Analytical and problem solving skills

– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, MRP, Internet

– Maintain confidentiality

– Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints

– Respond professionally in situations with difficult employees/vendor/customer issues or inquiries
