IT & DA has launched the Digital Transformation Environment (DTE) to be a digital accelerator focused on designing and building in-house software solutions and differentiating capabilities to help Boeing compete in our second century. Our focus is on innovative solutions implementing cutting-edge agile software development methodologies and user-centric design. This position will place you at heart of a fast-paced, growing organization where you will have the opportunity to shape the program as it is being created. This program is a key enabler of 2nd Century Enterprise Systems (2CES).

We are looking for passionate Software Developers who love delivering working software using modern development methods and tools. You will work to deliver business value incrementally using continuous integration and continuous delivery. You will seek out opportunities for automation and optimization to design and deliver the best product. You will influence how DTE software developers will conduct day to day business in their discipline. You must also be able to engage our internal customer’s management with discussions about methodologies, culture, and best practices.

This is a collaborative role that requires being able to work with internal customers and colleagues on co-located integrated product teams. The role demands strong product instincts, excellent communication skills, technical fluency, empathy, humility, an understanding of the product vs. project mindset, and an appreciation for and ability to teach agile, lean startup, and user-centered design values, principles and practices. A successful candidate must be willing to contribute to the development of the methodology and software development discipline.

In this role you will:
Work on a dynamic team of 6-12 individuals supporting core Boeing products in 3 month increments.
Work with internal customers, and interact with other developers, to deliver products that delight end users.
Practice and teach development in a paring model.
Help the business define their product strategy and vision whilst breaking it down into user stories for the development team.
Create, own, and continuously improve strategic and tactical plans for your product.
Utilize, practice and teach test-driven development.
Apply extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts to deliver projects iteratively.
Provide technical solutions and implementations to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity.
Evangelize the principles of DTE’s methodologies, processes, tools, and culture to drive transformational change.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Experience in planning continuous integration and continuous delivery CI/CD (practice, teach).
Strong ability and passion for coaching on technical topics (e.g. developer skills)
Professional experience working as a Software Engineer/ Developer in an environment that utilized the Agile Software Development Methodology.
Have the technical depth to analyze technical solutions developed in DTE and other Boeing organizations, and resolve possible design and architecture conflicts.
Willingness to learn the new methodology and software development discipline.

Typical Education/Experience:
Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 7 or more years’ or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Required Skills:
Interest and passion for coaching and sharing knowledge.
More than 1 year of experience programming in Java.
More than 1 year of experience programming in C#/.NET.
More than 5 years of experience in software development.
Experience with delivery and running a live service.
Experience in CI/CD, deploying to cloud environments.
Experience building software as part of a cross-discipline team.
Web or mobile application development experience.
