The Maryland Department of Transportation The Secretary’s Office (MDOT TSO) is recruiting for a MDOT Enterprise IT Systems and Cloud Services Director (IT Assistant Director III) in the Office of Transportation Technology Services (OTTS). OTTS provides strategic direction for the entire MDOT. This includes, but is not limited to: soliciting and prioritizing system development activities; performing technology research and planning; establishing and managing the short-range and long-range plan and budget to support the growth of information technology across all MDOT; planning, acquiring and implementing large-scale business systems; acquiring, developing and supporting Cloud/Software as a Service (SaaS), web-based applications and web systems; acquiring, deploying and maintaining Office Automation and CADD/GIS hardware and software; planning, installing and supporting the local and wide area networks upon which all MDOT systems depend; and providing day-to-day computer operations support.
This position will be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week to respond to outages or other emergency situations. The incumbent in this position must possess deep technical expertise and managerial experience in supporting cloud technologies including hosted & SaaS applications. Furthermore, this position requires knowledge and experience in testing and quality assurance policies, procedures and supporting technologies as well as in enterprise Systems Administration. Ideal candidates should have excellent communication skills and at least 5 years of prior IT management experience.
The current vacancy exists at MDOT TSO in Glen Burnie, MD (Anne Arundel County). This position will also report to Hanover, MD (Anne Arundel County) when needed.

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Six (6) years of management or supervisor experience in information technology in at least two of the following areas: planning, systems analysis, infrastructure, computer programming or operations. At least three (3) of the six (6) years of required experience must have included Cloud Computing experience such as MS Azure, Oracle Cloud, Salesforce, AWS, etc.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Understanding and experience in proven project management methodologies
Experience in evaluating internal processes and design solutions to improve operational efficiencies

3. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
