What does an exceptional Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Dev Ops do?
We’re looking for an experienced DevOps team member to be embedded on our engineering team and help us deliver our microservice based product from the developer’s pull requests to prod deployment to customers. You will liaise with our central infrastructure team, but will be embedded with the engineering team and be a part of us controlling our product destiny and our team deployment ownership. You’ll be part of a community of embedded DevOps talent across our company.

Every day, Clover devices handle the core credit card and point-of-sale processing for hundreds of thousands of merchants. We provide next-generation payment services to the world’s largest payment processor, First Data, (USD$2.2 trillion processing volume). Behind the scenes, we operate a cloud platform providing processing, storage and collaboration for merchants, application developers, service providers and our merchants’ customers. To support all of this, we have a team of engineers dedicated to ensuring our systems remain operational, safe and secure. Our systems not only process payments, but help merchants run their businesses with inventory management solutions, customer loyalty rewards and other applications that are tailored to their industry. Right now, as we are looking to dive into new markets and expand our breadth of product, we need server engineers with DevOps skills to improve our applications in order to reach company goals.
At Clover, our team is broken down into product-focused squads. Each squad comes with its own unique set of responsibilities and contains engineers from all parts of the stack. These squads range from developer focused to business solution focused for our merchants and 3rd party developers..
Our Dev Ops Server Engineers (Developer Platform squad) are tasked with tagging and creating a release branch in preparation for releases, automating Jenkins pipelines and reporting of test results. They design and work with team engineers performing our product releases. They provide training to engineers for pipeline and release processes. And they liaise with our infrastructure teams to leverage our growing infrastructure capabilities for our team’s product.
Manage microservice, micro front ends deployment strategies and procedures.
Collaborate with engineering team to provide and maintain services SLA
End to end Monitoring across Infrastructure and Applications for Metrics, Alerts, Logs
Construct and maintain build and release pipelines
Define and enforce clear guidelines around product source code
Troubleshoot problems quickly and creatively
Experience with design, implement, and operate High-performance computing engines.
Basic Qualifications for consideration:
• At least 3 years of experience working with development infrastructure and configuration management
• Strong systems knowledge; fluent in Linux administration and Bash scripting
• Day-to-day familiarity with at least one of the major cloud service providers; GCP preferred
• Familiarity with container management and deployment; Kubernetes, Istio, Helm preferred
• Fluency in CI/CD design and pipeline implementation; Jenkins preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Passion to help other engineers be productive
Preferred Qualifications for consideration:
• Experience with microservices, preferably Spring Boot
• Exposure to React and web programming
• Python scripting
• Knowledge of Puppet & Terraform
