Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Product Development:
    • Work with Product Management to understand the challenges that customers and end users face in their day-to-day work and partner with them to design viable solutions.
    • Provides input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.
    • Contributes to product and solution designs to address critical issues and complex problems.
    • Build software applications across multiple platforms in response to the needs of stakeholders.
    • Maintain healthy multi-region environments while being cost-conscious
    • Understand technical architecture and write software and automated tests that are aligned with agreed upon standards.
    • Perform trouble-shooting efforts and investigations when necessary.
    • Provides ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.
    • Actively works with less experienced software engineers providing technical guidance and oversight.
    • Live by Agile principles and collaborate with team members using Agile techniques including sandbox testing, code reviews, and retrospectives
    • Participate in team on-call rotation
  • Operate as a DevOps SME:
    • Support the design, implementation and maintenance of a continuous integration environment.
    • Deploy and support automation systems and tooling in production.
    • Contribute to platform improvements dealing with automation, resilience, simplification and/or cost management and partner with delivery teams to implement them.
    • Serve as a trusted partner and provide technical leadership across all areas of build, release and implementation / operation.
    • Leverage knowledge and experience to contribute to customer facing activities such as technical briefings and customer response calls.
    • Ability to design and implement large scale infrastructure projects from end-to-end.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 4+ years experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience or 16 year's experience in a related field
  • Working experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems, components and APIs
  • Working experience realizing applications from conception and design, to implementation and support
  • Working knowledge of software development best practices and design patterns
  • Working experience in coding within multiple technology stacks
  • Willing to learn new languages and tech stacks
  • Working experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services)
  • Working experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Working experience with Agile application development practices
  • Proven ability to work with team members to deliver projects on deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and keep multiple threads in progress simultaneously
  • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platform
  • Ability to communicate within Engineering as well as with non-technical teams
  • Proficiency in a modern coding language such as Python
  • Working experience with cloud services such as AWS Glue, S3, EC2, Lambda, and Dynamo
  • Working experience with source management such as GitHub, Bit Bucket, GitLab

Preferred Skills:

  • Working experience with container services such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Working experience with build tools such as Ant, Maven, Gradle
  • Working experience with provisioning such as Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Working experience with config management such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt
  • Working experience with deploy artifacts such as Artifactory, Nexus
  • Working experience with monitoring/instrumentation or observability tools such as New Relic, Nagios, Splunk, Elk
