The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) at the University of Arizona is accepting applications for the position of Systems Administrator, Senior. The Systems Administrator, Senior will work for Social and Behavioral Sciences Technical Services (SBSTech) to provide administrative and operational server and network support in primarily Windows server environment with a focus on the college’s cloud computing initiatives.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, design, configuration, deployment, incident resolution, and user and group management to ensure availability, performance, and security for typical Windows services especially in the cloud computing environment with other SBSTech System Administrators. This position is also involved in system administration in the Linux environment.
Extensive experience with Windows server duties and responsibilities listed below is fundamental. Experience with Linux server management and cloud services is highly preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities
-Recommend and identify services that would benefit from leveraging cloud offerings.
-Responsible for the availability, performance, security and maintenance of the production servers, systems and the network infrastructure.
-Maintain data recoverability; implement/maintain data backup and disaster recovery procedures.
-Document and maintain new/existing infrastructure deployments.
-Establish and implement system guidelines, practices, procedures and standards, assuring standards are consistent with best practices, applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
-Test software including the impact of software updates and patches.
-Troubleshoot hardware and software systems.
-Optimize systems performance.
-Deploy services on cloud-based platforms when appropriate.
-Manage SBS server and data services on the cloud.
-Provide support for helpdesk tickets, email and phone requests; handle, prioritize, and follow-up on these requests to resolve issues in a timely manner.
-Participate in 247 system support, handle escalations, and be available to work extended and/or alternative hours as needed for rollouts, system upgrades, problem remediation, etc.
-Assumes and performs other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position.
-Provide support for tickets, email and phone requests related to this position.
-Participate in planning for system development and expansion.
-Research and resolve questions from users, management and other technical personnel.
-Analyze and determine the cause of systems software and hardware failures and performance deficiencies.
-Evaluate, adapt and optimize infrastructure and systems performance.
-Evaluate, test impacts and implement firmware and software patches and updates.
-Design, develop, recommend and document new or revised systems or system utilities.
-Coordinate systems with other internal/external systems and systems administrators.
-Work with System Administer Sr. on Linux/Unix servers.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
-Strong, recent working knowledge for the following technologies/services:
*Storage Area Networks (SANs)
*Networking: VLANs, TCP/IP, firewall, switches, routing
*Veeam Backup and Replication
*Datacenter environmental management
-Knowledge of computer systems administration theory, principles and practices
-Knowledge of current computer security practices and network protocols
-Knowledge of current and emerging software and hardware technologies
-Skill in designing, installing, configuring and maintaining computer hardware, operating and application systems and utilities including high availability systems
-Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team
-Ability to quickly learn new skills and technologies
-Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
-Ability to multi-task between multiple complex projects and operational requests
-Ability to occasionally bend, squat, climb short ladders and lift 60 lbs. without assistance

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications
Five years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware, operating and applications systems and utilities; OR Associate’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or related field AND four years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware, operating and applications systems and utilities; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or related field AND two years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware, operating and applications systems and utilities; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
-Experience with configuring and administering cloud services
-Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2016 Servers
-Extensive experience using Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
-Demonstrated knowledge of virtual server infrastructure
-Intermediate/Advanced PowerShell scripting experience
-Experience with configuring and administering Linux server in medium to large scale
