Information Technology Services (ITS) at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for a System Support Specialist. This position will support ISU faculty and staff in the design, use and application of instructional technology in university spaces. This includes; demonstration, training, trouble-shooting, maintenance and installation of instructional technology equipment and systems. This position also provides consulting, design, and leadership in the installation of instructional technology and presentation systems.
This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate’s experience. In addition to the responsibilities noted above, the higher level role will train and mentor students, staff, and contractors and be responsible for researching emerging technologies and working collaboratively to position the university infrastructure to accommodate and implement those new technologies campus wide.
ITS provides core computing, network services, enterprise systems, and information security resources to students, faculty, and staff. ITS also collaborates with technology experts campus wide to provide specialized IT resources to academic and business units.
The successful candidate for this position will have strong audio/visual technology skills, the ability to work in collaboration with various groups of people, excellent communication and problem solving skills, and the interest in working on projects campus wide at a variety of locations including minimal travel.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 5 years.
Supplemental Required Education and Experience: The requirements above are for the Systems Support Specialist III.
Systems Support Specialist IV:
– Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree.
– Experience for either position must include design, programming, and installation of audio video equipment and control systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
– Experience with installation and trouble-shooting of audio/visual equipment in classroom and conference room settings.
– Experience in IT customer service.
– Experience working with audio/visual equipment and technology in a university environment.
